Robert Bruce Young studied architecture at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and completed a master's degree in environmental studies (urban planning) at York University, Toronto. He worked in both of those fields before turning to writing.

His short fiction has appeared in the literary journals Great Lakes Review, Other Voices, and Postscripts to Darkness. In 2017, his short story "Paper Icon" will appear in the book Polish(ed): Stories by Canadian Writers, by Guernica Editions and distributed University of Toronto Press.

He lives in Guelph, Ontario, and is writing his second novel.
