Robert Bruce Young grew up in Guelph, Ontario, and studied at York University, Toronto, and the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver. He has worked as an architect, urban planner, sometime web designer, and occasional painter (the fine-art kind). He and his wife, a teacher, live in his hometown.

His short story "Paper Icon" appears in the book Polish(ed): Poland Rooted in Canadian Fiction, published by Guernica Editions in 2017. Young's short fiction has appeared in the literary journals Great Lakes ReviewPostscripts to Darkness, and Other Voices. Also in 2017, his short story "That's Not Bhangra" won Honourable Mention in the Canadian Authors Association's (Niagara) Ten Stories High contest.
